ACA Announces Edward J. Hesterlee as Executive Vice President

ANNOUNCES 
EDWARD J. HESTERLEE AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

                                                                                                                                              
Edward J. Hesterlee will serve as Executive Vice President of the American College of Apothecaries and the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists, effective May 1, 2010.

Dr. Hesterlee is a part-time Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy, located in Little Rock, Arkansas, and a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacy associations.

 

Before joining UAMS in 2007, Dr. Hesterlee worked for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals for over 14 years.  While there he was responsible for expanding the focus and vision of Professional Services Department.  The primary emphasis of this effort was to meet the expanding technical and professional needs of the company’s customers in the changing healthcare environment.  In addition, he was responsible for Market Development, a function that is responsible for Professional & Trade Relations, Marketing Communications and some aspects of strategic development.  In addition, he spent 14 years with Marion Laboratories and Marion Merrell Dow, a global pharmaceutical company located in Kansas City, Missouri.  While with that company, he held positions in clinical research, product surveillance, drug information and professional relations. 

 

Dr. Hesterlee has also been a frequent contributor of articles to state and national pharmacy publications concerning pharmacy practice and the marketing of professional services, and has served on numerous academic and regulatory advisory boards.  He has also practiced pharmacy in both a hospital and community setting, and held a previous academic appointment with the University of Missouri – Kansas City College of Pharmacy.  His BS and PharmD degrees are both in pharmacy, and he has completed a post –doctoral residency in clinical pharmacy where he specialized in ambulatory care and patient counseling.  His wife, Pam, is also a pharmacist who specializes in orphan and ultra-orphan drugs.
