Ron Davis began his pharmacy education after serving as a First Lieutenant Infantry Platoon Leader in Vietnam.  He is the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star.  He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia Pharmacy School in 1973 and has been an active preceptor and academic supporter for more than thirty years. As an active member of his church, Ron has served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, taught classes, and he has gone on several building and medical mission trips.  In addition, Ron also is active in Bon Air Rotary.

Ron’s lifelong commitment to patient care and education is exemplified by his certifications in diabetes, asthma, and pain management.  He participates in health fairs at various churches and conducts health clinics for the ADA and AHA.  His commitment to student learning is evident as a preceptor for clerkship students, residents, and as an instructor at MCV/VCU School of Pharmacy in the communications and entrepreneurial courses.  He speaks on behalf of independent pharmacy during the student Dean’s Hour and provides alumni support during student applicant interviews.  Ron has precepted over 300 students at Buford Road Pharmacy.  The location offers community, geriatric, and advanced rotations to APPE students as well as elective compounding and entrepreneurial options.  He began taking IPPE students for community rotations, and in addition, takes part in the MCV/VCU School of Pharmacy residency program.  He continuously works hand-in-hand with the school to train and develop pharmacy students.

Ron was awarded the Innovative Pharmacy of the Year award in 2001, the Medical College of Virginia Preceptor Aware, Medical College of Virginia Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award, Preceptor of the Month in September 2003, Pharmacy of the Year in 2004 with Good Neighbor Pharmacy, Good Neighbor Pharmacy Pharmacist of the Year 2010, and the Disability Friendly Work Environment Award,.  In addition, Ron and MCV/VCU School of Pharmacy were awarded the Crystal Apple Award through AACP recognizing excellence in academic-practice partnerships through quality experiential education.
