Aseptic Technique Compounding

Aseptic Technique Compounding is a 16 hour course. This course is designed to prepare pharmacists to strengthen their knowledge base in Aseptic Technique.  At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to demonstrate the proper use of certain specialized pharmacy equipment and of aseptic technique used in compounding prescription medications.

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

· discuss the basic principles of aseptic compounding

· describe the guidelines for sterile product preparation established by ASHP and USP

· demonstrate aseptic technique by successfully completing media transfers

· describe a plan for environmental monitoring, including sites to monitor, monitoring frequency, and methods

· describe a quality assurance program, including personal training, validation, documentation, product control, and if appropriate, product testing

· prepare a variety of dosage forms using aseptic technique
